Drift
I composed this piece for my traditional adult beginners course which is available here. It is written in a minor key and has a lovely flowing character. It includes some pedal work if you are ready to add that. If the second half is too tricky with its more active left hand accompaniment, just play the first half twice, perhaps at different dynamic levels.
Brahm’s Lullaby
My arrangement of this famous melody. The right hand is quite mobile – be sure to observe the finger numbers to help you move around successfully and smoothly.
Away in a Manger
This version of Away in a Manger needs decent hands together coordination including two note chords in your left hand. The right hand is quite mobile.
See Amid the Winter’s Snow
This requires the left hand to be familiar with three note chords of different types including those using the thumb to play two adjacent notes. Reading music with ‘voicing’ i.e. two lines of music within one hand is also needed for this arrangement. Some of the chords include ‘added’ notes likes 7th or suspensions – in simple terms they are ‘interesting’ harmonies. It creates a bit more of a modern, jazzy sound.
In the Hall of the Mountain King
A fun version of this iconic classical piece that my pupils love to play around Halloween especially!
