Welcome and Courses Coming Soon

Thanks for finding your way to the Piano To You blog. I hope you’ll find something useful to take away from it. There will be new posts regularly with useful info for adult piano learners, parents of learners and teachers of piano and music theory. Please get involved by leaving your questions and comments.

In coming weeks I will be exploring things such as good practice routines, ways that parents can help their learners during practice time, the best method books to use if learning from home, and ways to incorporate improvisation and musical games into your own practice time or into lessons. Some blog posts will also focus on new free resources which I will be constantly adding to.

I’d like to introduce myself in a bit more depth too at this point if you’re interested to know who is writing each week and creating all our Piano to You content. My name is Vicky and I learnt piano from the age of around 11 myself. I also did a lot of singing and dabbled with the guitar a lot when I was young, still do in fact. I’ve taught piano and music theory in some form or another since I completed my Grade 8 Piano many moons ago and always loved sharing music with others. After completing my Music degree at the beautiful Bangor University in North Wales I trained to be a High School Music teacher. Finding this a little incompatible with my family life later on I have now found my way into peripatetic music teaching in schools – mostly piano, with some music theory, a little guitar, and some whole class singing thrown in. I still do a little private teaching outside of schools occasionally too – mainly short courses outside of UK term time. I have many years of experience with all ages and abilities and particularly enjoy teaching complete beginners. I have established Piano To You so that I can share my teaching, and my resources with a wider audience.

I don’t have all the best tech and graphic design expertise and I don’t profess to be a world leader in the field, just a real music teacher with real experience with real students day in day out.

Our first video courses will be available soon – already in the pipeline and nearly complete these first three will be the Piano to You Young Beginners Course, the Piano to You Adult Beginners Course and the Piano to You Adult Piano Course – Pop and Chords focussed. Over time I will be adding more courses for different ages groups and abilities and courses focussing on music theory, on various genres and various particular skills. Watch this space!
